A double glazed window is really two parts: the frame, and a sealed glass unit sitting inside it. When the unit's seal fails, moisture mists the gap between the panes, and no amount of cleaning will shift it.

Double glazing questions, answered

My double glazing has steamed up. Do I need a whole new window?
No. The sealed glass unit is separate from the frame, so we can remove the failed unit and fit a new one without touching the window itself. It costs a fraction of a full replacement.
Why do double glazed units mist up?
Every sealed unit has a perimeter seal and a desiccant that keeps the gap between the panes dry. Over the years the seal breaks down, moist air gets in, and condensation forms where you can't wipe it. Once that happens the unit needs replacing, but the frame does not.
Can new glass really cut my heating bills?
Yes. Modern Low-E (energy-saving) units reflect heat back into the room and typically insulate far better than units fitted even ten years ago, so upgrading failed glass is a genuine efficiency improvement, not just a cosmetic fix.
How long does a replacement take?
We measure up on the first visit, and fitting is usually done in under an hour per unit once your glass arrives from the manufacturer, typically within a week or two.
